The Story of the Hummingbird

It's been a whirlwind of a month. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would own a wellness store but here I am. It’s been an exciting month with lots of ups and downs but I’m going to continue to stay focused on my goal: To help others feel their best.

While many of you reading this may know my family well, I know many of you may not know that my mom battled breast cancer for nearly 17 years. She was 31 years old when she was first diagnosed, 3 years younger than I am today. After a long fight with cancer-one in which she never gave up, nor did she let it claim her spirit, Mom left this Earth at the age of 49.

Now, having two daughters of my own, I am more determined than ever to be as healthy as I can so I can live my life to the fullest. I pray every day that I am half the mother, wife, daughter, fighter & friend that she was.

If you’ve come into Nature’s Elite, then you’ve seen the hummingbird. It symbolizes who Mom was, who I’m striving to be, and the kind of person I’m teaching my girls to be.

Hummingbird

Known for its delicate beauty, strength and adaptability, the hummingbird was carefully selected as Nature’s Elite emblem by founder Diana Murray because it reminded her of her beloved mother, Kate Bratcher. Much like Kate’s 17-year battle with cancer, the tiny hummingbird has a special way of overcoming our tough pasts and bringing joy into our present helping us find the sweetest nectar. Though Kate succumbed to cancer in 2009, she never let it rob her of her fight, happiness or will to live.

At Nature’s Elite, our focus is to help improve the quality of our customer’s lives by offering the sweetest nectar—and the mission is to spread joy. With its ability to fly in all directions, this beautiful and unique bird symbolizes perseverance and strength, and Diana cannot see a hummingbird without remembering her mom's love for this resilient bird. It epitomizes the power of adaptability: being willing to step back, observe, look at things from a new perspective, then quickly shift into action as needed.

So when a hummingbird shows up at your window, let it remind you of your own strength, tenacity, perseverance, endurance and all the things you have overcome in your existence.
